State Representative Harry Osterman (D 14) was elected Alderman of the 48th Ward of Chicago on 2/22/11. When he resigns from office there will exist a vacancy in the office of State Representative of the 14th District.
According to Illinois law, the vacancy in that office is to be filled by appointment of the Democratic Ward Committee who represent the Wards in the 14th District. The appointment will be to fill out the current term of office for State Representative which expires in January 2013.
The Committeemen's vote to select someone is weighted by the number of votes that Harry Osterman received in each Ward when he was elected State Representative in November, 2010. The weighted vote is listed below.
Anyone wishing to be considered for appointment must meet the eligibility criteria for office as set forth in law. The selection of a person to fill this office will be made at a public hearing on April 16th at 1:30 p.m. at Loyola University in the 14th District.
Those wishing to be considered for appointment should provide the following information along with a resume and send it to [email protected]. Once your application is received you will be contacted so that a time can be scheduled for you to present your credentials on April 16th to the Committeemen and the community. In order to be scheduled for an interview, your application should be received by April 11th.
